Main Suspect in New Zealand Shooting Yelled “Subscribe to PewDiePie”

The 28-year-old Australian, Brenton Harrison Tarrant, walked into a Christchurch, New Zealand. Killing 49 innocent people in less than 24 hours. Police have mentioned that the tragedy was one of the deadliest shootings in New Zealand’s history.

The shooter live streamed the attack, which was seen repeatedly across the globe. Media companies have removed the said video, however viewers have found ways to repost it elsewhere.

The video of the shooting begins with the gunman inside his vehicle preparing on his way to the mosque, As seen in the video, the vehicle of the gunman was full of weapons.

The shooter immediately fired as he approached the front of the mosque where full of worshippers have gathered at that time. After several minutes the gunman walks inside the mosque and shooted repeatedly.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that the country’s gun laws would change in light of the attack on two mosques in Christchurch in which 49 people were killed. – The Associated Press.

Online users have reacted to government’s action that nothing will change even the gun laws become stern.

Before the attack, the gunman have posted online during his livestream to “subscribe to PewDiePie”, a reference to a meme about a 29-year-old Swedish YouTube superstar PewDiePie, also known as Felix Kjellberg who has 89 million subscribers on the platform.

“Just heard news of the devastating reports from New Zealand Christchurch. I feel absolutely sickened having my name uttered by this person. My heart and thoughts go out to the victims, families and everyone affected by this tragedy,” he posted on Twitter to his 17 million followers.

The YouTube superstar has completely nothing to do with the tragedy, and people wonder why the shooter would mention the said YouTube – and other people have concluded that the shooter was just trolling us all.
